Dubai welcomed cyclists to one of its biggest community sporting events on Sunday, November 1, as Dubai Ride 2026 transformed parts of the city's iconic road network into a dedicated cycling route.

Presented by DP World as part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, the seventh edition of the event brought together participants of different ages and cycling abilities for a ride through some of Dubai's best-known landmarks.

Two routes for different cycling abilities

This year's Dubai Ride featured two main routes, giving participants the choice between a longer city ride and a shorter family-friendly experience.

The 12-kilometre Sheikh Zayed Road Route was designed for more experienced cyclists. It passed landmarks including the Museum of the Future, Dubai Water Canal and Burj Khalifa.

Families and less experienced riders could choose the 4-kilometre Downtown Family Route, which covered a flatter circuit around Dubai Mall, Dubai Opera and Burj Khalifa.

The event was open to participants of all ages, including People of Determination, with dedicated access arrangements for adapted bicycles and handcycles.

What participants needed to know

Registration was required to take part, although participation was free. Cyclists were also required to display their event bib and wear a helmet.

According to the event's official guidance, participants were expected to arrive between 4am and 6am. The routes opened at 6:15am, with all cyclists expected to start by 7:30am. The course was scheduled to close at 8am.

Participants were advised to bring a roadworthy bicycle, a helmet and a filled water bottle.

Traffic and public transport arrangements

The event required temporary traffic arrangements around the cycling routes. Motorists were advised to plan journeys in advance and check road updates before travelling through affected areas.

Dubai Metro services were scheduled to begin at 3am on Sunday to help participants reach the event early. Designated parking options were also announced for those travelling by car.

Residents travelling through central Dubai should continue to check official Roads and Transport Authority updates for any remaining traffic restrictions or changes.

Dubai Fitness Challenge continues throughout November

Dubai Ride marks one of the major events in the latest edition of the Dubai Fitness Challenge, which runs from October 31 to November 29.

The month-long initiative encourages residents to take part in at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day for 30 days.

Other major events scheduled during the challenge include Dubai Stand Up Paddle on November 7 and 8, Dubai Run on November 22 and Dubai Yoga on November 29.

With its mix of community participation, accessible routes and iconic city views, Dubai Ride remains an important part of the emirate's annual fitness calendar.

Residents can follow the official Dubai Fitness Challenge website and RTA channels for further event and transport updates.
